Thoughts from my heart

Enjoy the journey

Pause.Take time and listen. What is God wanting to teach you in this season? Right now, wherever you are, there is something that Jesus wants to say and wants to do in you, around you and through you.

I wouldn’t consider myself a patient person. I mean, Amazon prime definitely hasn’t help that at all. And the world we live in with a “me” mentality tries to push it even worse. But that isn’t God.

It can be so easy to want to push ourselves into the next season. Let’s face it : life isn’t always cupcakes and rainbows. But if there’s one thing I’ve heard God speaking to me so strongly in the last few months it is this: enjoy the journey. Do you ever realize how when you’re in the middle of winter you’re so ready for spring but then when spring comes all you long for is summer? It’s so easy for us to take our misunderstanding and frustration and wish away the season instead of embracing what’s right in front of us and learning what God has for us.

Enjoy the journey. These three words rose up inside of me a couple months back. I knew it meant something special but if you’re like me sometimes you can doubt God’s voice and need another nudge. Well, He did just that. We had a special speaker at church and as he was wrapping things up he said, “I feel like someone needs to hear this: enjoy the journey.” Yep. God’s just insanely awesome and hilarious at the same time. He will speak to us multiple times and make sure we are listening.

Christmas is just a couple days away and the New Year is quickly approaching. I challenge you to spend some time focusing on where God has you and what He is wanting to do. Have you learned anything from Him? Have you stopped talking to listen to what He has to say? Have you held your faith even when you don’t understand?

If you’re loving the season you are in, then that’s great. Enjoy where you are right now. If you are kicking and screaming about where you are right now, know that it won’t be like this forever and in the middle of this season is a purpose. Wherever you are, enjoy the journey.

For everything that happens in life —there is a season, a right time for everything under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Blessings and Merry Christmas,
Joanna
