SURELY GOODNESS AND MERCY

These four words are not just merely words on a page in a book. They haven gotten me through more than I can even begin to imagine and I know have the power to do the same for you.
Last year, I began to read Bill Johnson's "God is Good" book and it not only reassured things but opened me up to how others struggle. I would say probably 90% of the issues everyone has stems from the root of not really believing that God is a good Father.
I'm sure you're probably really familiar with Housefire's "Good Good Father" : You're a good good Father, its who you are and I'm loved by you.
I absolutely love the song and the truth that it speaks. The thing is, many of us have never had a good Father in the natural so it's hard for us to  imagine God like that.
Matthew 7:9-11 in the Passion translation says it perfectly:
"Do you know of any parent who would give his hungry child, who asked for food, a plate of rocks instead? Or when asked for a piece of fish, what parent would offer his child a snake instead? If you, imperfect as you are, know how to lovingly take care of your children and give them what's best, how much more ready is your heavenly Father to give wonderful gifts to those who ask Him?"
Ya'll! There is so much revelation in that scripture! If we, as sinners and imperfect humans, can do things for others and our children, how much more amazing and GOOD things can Father God do in us, through us, and for us?!!!!
Now, when I say that God is good, of course we, as Christians, all agree He is. But it's our different definitions that mislead us.
Bill Johnson says, "His goodness is beyond our ability to comprehend but not our ability to experience. Our hearts will take us where our heads can't fit."

So back to this: Psalms 23:6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life

Surely: firmly, undoubtedly, assuredly, certainly, inevitably, or without fail.
Whatever in your life is lacking or doesn't align with who He is, SURELY, His goodness will meet your needs and align your circumstance with what His word says for all the days of your life.

Blessings,
Joanna
