Thoughts from My Heart

HOPE

Las Vegas. So many emotions in those two words as I've seen and read countless articles, posts, news stories, etc. In the chaos that my mind tries to wrap around, my heart comes back to one thing : hope.

In hopeless situations, there is always hope. When our hope is fully in God, in who He is and what His promises are, we will not be let down. Yes, we may question situations but our minds are not to wander past what we know to be true; God is good.

So on to this. As a Christian, we are called to do many things and one of them is to not live in fear. I know people do crazy unexplainable things but our response and our lives should never be fear-based. Jesus said:
The thief approaches with malicious intent, looking to steal, slaughter, and destroy; I came to give life with joy and abundance. John 10:10

Even in the midst of chaos and confusion, God is still on the throne. He is still ruler over all things and His agenda, promises, and nature has never changed. That means while the devil tries to steal our hope, joy, and very lives, Jesus still gives life.

Don't let your response be fear. Don't let the devil hold you back from living life, the very thing Jesus came to give us. Live life. Travel the world. Go to concerts. Go to events. Raise your children.
Do it all without fear.

It hurts my heart seeing people say they fear their kids growing up in the world. Why? Because, when we fear we let satan win and acknowledge that his attempt to rob us has worked. I know that we all process things differently but I choose to keep my eyes fixed on the one who sleeps in the midst of a storm.

My soul quietly waits for the True God alone because I hope only in Him.
He alone is my rock and deliverance,
    my citadel high on a hill;
    I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my significance depend ultimately on God;
    the core of my strength, my shelter, is in the True God.
Have faith in Him in all circumstances, dear people.
    Open up your heart to Him;
    the True God shelters us in His arms.

Psalm 62:5-8

Blessings,
Joanna
